What 10X Is Easier Than 2X Taught Me About Scaling My Business (Again)
Lessons from the third read of the book
I finished reading 10X Is Easier Than 2X for the third time.
Every time I read this book, I learn something new. This time around, my insights felt much more specific to the actions I am taking, as opposed to in the past, where it felt like a high level mindset shift.
In the past, I recognized my bad habit of trying to do too much, especially in areas that don’t matter.
Now, I am seeing the specific improvements and actions I need to take to work less and make more.
Today, I will tell them to you.
LFG. 🔥
I Need To Be Going All In On My Newsletter
After analyzing the numbers, it’s so obvious that my daily Substack (the one you’re reading now) is responsible for 80 percent of the sales I’ve generated for Launchpad.
The distribution of sales is pretty even. Whether someone finds my newsletter through YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Google, the outcome is the same.
This tells me that it doesn’t matter how people find me, only that they do find me.
I am going to run ads and really pump this bad boy up. I want to hit 100,000 subscribers. Realistically, if I focus entirely on the newsletter, I could run my whole operation through a daily send and have more than enough marketing power behind me.
The Place To Start With Somatic Jules Is Local
Juliana and I have been experimenting with different models for her business
virtual one on one breathwork sessions
group sessions
membership platform
Right now, the best form of leverage is (not surprisingly) the model I always preach. Start with the boring service business.
The in person events have the least scale, but they generate the most emotional attachment to the business and create the most memorable experiences.
Again, I think this is an opportunity to run ads. If we target Denver somatic and breathwork, we can build a killer email list and run events. Once that happens, we can explore getting a location and scaling out digitally.
But for now, we need to keep the main thing the main thing.
I Need More People
Since I sold Stodzy, I’ve been nervous to build a big team. I don’t want to be in that position again, where my days were spent putting out fires and sitting on phone calls that went nowhere.
This time around, I’ve been purposeful about keeping a small team, a lean model, and insanely high profits.
But after looking at all the numbers, it’s clear there are areas where I need to leverage people more.
Who not how is another core concept from the book. I need to use my time in areas of highest leverage and allocate other responsibilities to people who are great at that specific skill. So that means
I should use Ermy for accounting, invoices, and general EA tasks
I should definitely bring Isaac onto the team to build out the Agency Clarity brand
I’ve been anxious to bulk up because I still have some PTSD from the last time I scaled an agency. But I’m just under one million a year in revenue for Quantum Leads, and I’ll do around five hundred thousand this year for Agency Clarity. I’m at the tipping point where scalability becomes the mission.
I’m Back To Repeating Myself
Sometimes I write to express myself. Other times I write to share what I’m learning. And sometimes I write to organize the chaos in my head.
I’m heading into a new phase of growth, where I’ll need to constantly remind myself of the lessons I’m applying. This is why writing is magic. It reinforces what matters and holds me accountable to the actions I must take to get where I want to go.
Love you guys. Happy Monday. Let’s kick ass this week.
