Publishing Your Work Before It's Done Is The Key To Getting Ahead
Everyone says I'm crazy, but I keep making progress.
I am fully convinced that my way of building services and products is the best way.
Today, I will tell you why.
LFG. 🔥
Publish Every Chance You Get
As you know, I have launched a membership site called Agency Clarity. The site has two tiers of members. There is The Launchpad, which helps upstart entrepreneurs create agencies. And there is The Sales Training, which helps more established entrepreneurs build a system of outreach and sales.
I just started about a month ago, but I have already generated about $26,000 in sales.
You want to know what is crazy? I have not even finished building the products. In fact, for The Sales Training, I have not even published my first lesson yet.
However, that does not stop me from making progress, making sales, and creating an ecosystem of followers who are passionate about joining.
It has always been my philosophy to publish as you go. Start where you are, be honest and authentic about what it is you are offering, and then continue to build, prune, nurture, and improve as you go.
The Truth About Finished Products
I do not want to publish it until it is finished.
But if I were to ask someone what it looks like when it is finished, I always get a bunch of esoteric answers with no specific outcome in mind.
Nothing is ever finished. You just choose to stop working on it.
So if we can establish that finished means you have chosen to stop working on it, then what does that say about when something is ready to be brought to the marketplace? That is obviously a personal decision, but in my view, the time to bring your services and products to the marketplace is right now.
Yes, right this instant, regardless of how finished they feel or what your internal perception of them is.
It is true that if you publish your product now, you will probably hit some walls, some setbacks, and get feedback from the market that is uncomfortable. But if you take that feedback and apply it to your product right away, then you will still get to where you want to go faster than if you worked on it behind the scenes and published it when it was ready.
Don’t Take My Word For It, Just Watch What I Do
This is how I operate.
Sometimes it makes people uncomfortable because on the outside, it can look a bit messy. But in reality, it makes everything a lot simpler because you remove deadlines, and you always know what the next right thing to do is, because the next right thing to do is always the aspect of your operation that needs improvement the most.
For example …
I am building a call tracking system for a big project. On Friday, I got halfway through creating the call tracking and today I will implement the feedback from the call data to the ad campaigns.
I am building the products for Agency Clarity at a presale for customers. I am literally charging people for access to a pre-sale environment where I publish new lessons as I create them and then I get feedback from people who ask questions which gives me insight on ways I can improve the product that I have not even thought of.
I am publishing my cornerstone pages and SEO for Quantum Leads. I am going to be publishing the pages one at a time and creating the YouTube videos for the content as well. Currently, my site looks a bit sloppy and unfinished, but who cares? The end result and the clarity of process are worth the short term downside of presenting an unpolished brand.
I have the best strategy for progress. It is truly my belief that the biggest advantage I have in business is speed and progress. I do not need to wait for anything, I just do it.
Laying Perfect Bricks
An analogy that always comes to mind is from Will Smith. He once spoke about a lesson he learned from his father.
If you want to build a wall, you do not build a wall. You lay a brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid, and then you lay another brick.
Maybe I fell into this strategy because I am not smart enough or patient enough to get things right the first time. However, I would not have it any other way.
This has worked for me. I am sure it will work for you.
Love you guys. Talk to you tomorrow.
