Keyword Research for my New Direction
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed a habit to NOT take immediate action on an idea. It’s always best to let the idea sit and marinade. If a week goes by, and I still feel the way I did, than at least the idea has an emotional connection to me.
The next step is to do some research.
That’s what I’m doing now. This is all preliminary. I wouldn’t call this empirical data by any means, but I’m getting a lay of the land.
Seedtable
My friend Gonz has been working on a brand that discusses European Tech. The brand is called Seedtable. (I had a great interview with Gonz about his company, you can listen to it here).
Seedtable doesn’t have a perfect alignment with what I’m trying to do, but it’s close enough. Let’s take a look.
Gonz has an awesome concept. He built a directory that outlines all the emerging tech companies in certain European countries. I think I’ll apply this to America, except state by state.
Market Research
If I want this to be a success, I will need to be reading more and emerging myself in interesting markets.
Marketresearch.com seems to be a good place to do this. It gives detailed reports on markets. I think my approach will have much more personal insights, and be less of an objective view point.
The site is strong, and I don’t think this is a direct competitors, but it gives me some good layouts.
Of Dollars and Data
One of my favorite online writers is Nick Maggiulli, who is the founder of Dollars and Data.
Again, it’s not a perfect alignment, but the way he presents his content is going to be similar to how I will present mine. It’s different subject matter, but I think it’s relevant.
My weekly posts will need to positioned as more of a report than an article, but with that said, I plan to mix in my personal insight or give examples of people who are succeeding in certain markets.
If he can do it, so can I.
More on this tomorrow.
