Jump On This Hidden Industry To Build Your Seven Figure Business
Boring, hidden, and insanely profitable
I write a lot about the importance of specialization and owning your vertical.
The success of your agency, and subsequently your main brand, will largely depend on how well you can establish ownership and authority over an industry.
So which industries are good ones for you to specialize in?
Today I want to share with you a hidden gem of an industry you can pursue right now to build your business.
LFG. 🔥
My Work As A Contractor
When I was a young man, I was a contractor. The truth is, I never thought I would be an online entrepreneur. Everyone in my neighborhood either built houses, cut grass, or was a firefighter. I assumed that was my destiny too.
Getting sober and moving to Florida changed that for me, but before then, I spent almost five years working for a man named Mike Thornton.
Mike was a respected contractor in the neighborhood, highly skilled with a strong reputation. But he had a secret weapon. He was also a firefighter. Many of his jobs came from meeting business owners at the scene of a fire he had just helped put out.
These jobs were the best. Fires created an entire ecosystem of contractors working side by side, and our crew always had steady work from fire jobs.
Among all the trades that showed up, one group stood out more than anyone else.
The Industrial Cleaning Team Always Made The Most Money
Fires leave behind more than damage. They leave behind a smell that lingers everywhere.
Cleaning after a fire is not about sweeping and mopping. Every inch of the building must be restored. Ceilings, rafters, frames, walls, ducts. The smell has to be removed completely, or the building is useless.
The work is grueling. More importantly, it is urgent.
When a commercial building burns, every minute it is offline costs money. Schools, manufacturing plants, dealerships, office buildings, storage facilities. Owners and managers are desperate to get operations back up and running.
That urgency gave the cleaners enormous pricing power. Everyone else had to wait for them to finish. They worked fast, got their check, and moved on to the next job.
I will never forget the man who ran the cleaning company. He was direct, all business, and he charged top dollar.
The Market
Industrial cleaning is a high revenue business. Jobs often run between ten and fifteen dollars per square foot. With the average commercial building in the U.S. around 16,300 square feet, even a conservative job at 8,000 square feet brings in about 80,000 dollars.
And because these jobs are usually covered by insurance, there is little haggling over price. Time is the critical factor. Cleaners come in, do the work, and clear out, which means they can keep operating nonstop as long as the jobs keep coming.
That combination of urgency, pricing power, and insurance coverage makes the market especially attractive.
Most importantly, these jobs are local. So you have a perfect opportunity to build a business around it.
The Opportunity
This is where you come in.
Using The Machine Method to build around industrial cleaning services could be an incredible play. Here’s the framework.
Create a newsletter for cleaning business owners. Share updates on
prices of cleaning supplies
marketing tactics
new equipment and techniques
Build a lead generation directory that connects commercial property owners to cleaners instantly.
Create an agency that specializes in marketing for industrial cleaning companies.
These owners are constantly busy and rarely stop to focus on branding or lead generation. If you build the apparatus, you can become the go to solution.
This is an industry I have thought about for years, but I chose to specialize in healthcare instead. So I will not pursue it.
But if you are serious about building a business that works for you, industrial cleaning is a hidden gem waiting to be owned.
