How I'm Organizing My YouTube Channel
Here's the plan.
I Want to start taking my YouTube channel more seriously.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to organize everything and how I want to position myself.
I’ve come up with a plan.
LFG. 🔥
The Problem With Personal Brands
Without question, the part that gets people the most hung up about a personal brand is how to position it. The reason is that creating a personal brand requires people to narrowly define who they are, usually through the scope of their business.
For example, my friend Darren has been building a great personal brand. But almost all of his content is about podcasts. He has branded himself as the podcast guy.
Another example is Liam Harrison. He’s a famous Thai fighter, and all of his content is about Muay Thai. His business is training videos and workshops, so he has to create content about Muay Thai, because that’s what people are going to hire him for.
Over time, people’s personal brands become blended into their businesses.
In most cases, there’s no way around this. If you’re going to bother creating a personal brand, you might as well get a reward from it. That requires you to choose.
But people aren’t businesses. People are people with different interests.
My Personal Brand Is About Entrepreneurship … I Think?
The truth is, I never expected my Substack to take off the way it has. I never did this as a branding tool. I’ve always written as a way for me to improve as a person, keep my mind in order, and train myself to be a better writer.
But over time, I think I’ve been able to brand myself as an entrepreneur. Now this is semantics, but being known as an entrepreneur is different than being known for a specific thing. For example, I know that people attach my name to:
Copyblogger
Behavioral healthcare
SEO
Pay per click and advertising
Sales
Directories
Etc.
It wasn’t by design, but I think the constant repetitions have put me in a unique position where my personal brand is wide-ranging. Somehow, and quite by accident, I’ve been able to remain a person and not turn myself into a business.
I’ve thought about this a lot, because the reality is that if I go all in and brand myself as an industry expert in a certain thing, then I can probably be more financially successful through my personal brand.
At least in the short term.
But in the long term, I truly feel as though my wide-ranging interests and my holistic view on sales and entrepreneurship are what will set me apart and put me in a position to achieve my ultimate goal, which is to build my personal holdings company to $10M a year in revenue.
Okay, so now that I’ve brain dumped all over you, here’s the plan.
I Am Going To Combine All My Skills, Interests, and Brand Into One YouTube Channel
If I’m going to do this, I’m going to make it as easy on myself as possible.
I don’t want to manage different YouTube accounts and brands for different companies. The goal is to get to a point where Isaac and I can build a studio, but even when we get there, I think I’m still better off combining everything into my Tim Stoddart YouTube channel.
I’m going to organize all the different content types into playlists. This will include:
Building My Empire: A catch-all channel where I publish all my educational content about Google Business Profiles, directories, and the documentation of my own journey as an entrepreneur.
Sales Training: A section just about sales, building sales teams, and increasing revenue for agencies and service businesses. I can also use this as training videos that I can send prospects for my own sales.
Healthcare Marketing: I want to make more videos about healthcare. These videos will serve two purposes. One, they will be embedded in the cornerstone pages of my Quantumleads.com website, and two, they will spread my brand and expertise in the field.
Tim’s Book Club: I love to read, and a lot of the videos I watch in my free time are book reviews from other book nerds. A lot of the books I read are business-related, but some aren’t. I’ve always wanted to do this, so I’m going to do it. Who cares if it’s on brand or not?
Adventures: I love making fun vlog videos on my phone when my family travels, goes on hikes, or does fun activities.
And that’s it. That will cover everything. No rules. No strict agenda. I’m going to make my YouTube channel a valuable business asset while also continuing with my philosophy of sharing my experience.
I’m pumped. This is going to go. 📈📈📈📈
Love you guys. Talk to you Monday.
Tim

I like the idea of a book club a lot. I think that whatever books you choose to read will end up being "on brand" anyway.
I was subscribed to Ryan Holiday's monthly reading list email for years and I read most of his books because of that.
Maybe writing a book is in your future too!
