You may think that no one is watching, but your actions have a rippling effect on the world.
Every time you pass by that piece of trash on the street and don’t pick it up, you are voluntarily participating in an act of omission. You could have taken that moment to make the world a trillionth of a better place to live than it was a minute ago.
The same goes for every compliment you forget to give or every time you sell yourself short on what should be your best effort.
We lose track of our importance because we see ourselves as individuals. We are our own little Universes. But the reality is that we are all connected. We are 2 connections away from a million people. What we do affects those around us, which affects the people around them.
If every one of us carried ourselves in a manner that made our mothers proud, imagine the kind of world we would live in.
You matter. You can create your own success.
P.S. – This blog post was inspired by a stranger who sent me a beautiful compliment about my writing. It reminded me of the value of my work.
People see you. People see how you carry yourself. You’re more powerful than you think.
