5 years ago, I started The Sober Podcast Network. We built a coalition of podcasters and built a network where we could house all the podcasts under one website and brand.
It was hugely successful. All the podcasters in the network saw huge growth and we were able to build the brand of SoberPodcasts.com to a well-established entity.
In total, we were getting about 30,000 downloads a month.
And then I pulled the plug on it. I shut it down.
At the time, I was overloaded. I’ll save you all the drawn-out stories, but I was working 70 hour weeks and dealing with some personal issues. I knew I needed to refocus on just one thing. So I shut down the network and channeled all our resources back into Sober Nation.
But now we have a well-established team, a better process and we’re bringing it back.
Over the last few years, I would catch myself going to the website and clicking around. I would visualize what it could become and think about how much this network is needed.
I know sobriety based podcasts help a lot of people. There are plenty of times where people may not be able to get to a therapy session or get to a 12 step meeting. I think that podcasts give a great platform to help these people hear the message when they don’t have another option.
I often listen to recovery based podcasts when I go for my nighttime walks. It helps me. I know it helps other people.
I appreciate that. I take it very seriously.
I believe that sober podcasts are important. So we’re bringing it back in full. We’re gonna blow it up. It will be epic.
