The CMO at JourneyPure is a guy that I really look up to. He has a way of conducting himself that makes everyone step up their game.
He has the right to expect the most from other people because he expects the most out of himself. He has a way of speaking to people in a direct manner, but in a way that doesn’t feel spiteful or intimidating.
He cares. He cares enough to tell you the truth.
Today, he sat down and explained to me where he gets his ability to communicate and lead so effectively. It turns out that it wasn’t something he developed, but rather a technique of leadership that he learned.
This technique is called Radical Candor.
If you have a few minutes, I highly suggest you watch this video. A woman named Kim Scott developed a quadrant system to properly define and measure the levels of “giving a shit about people” and cross-referencing them with the levels of “willingness to challenge people.”
If you are in a leadership position, or if you simply want to be better with communicating, assertiveness or conflict resolution… this video is a must-watch.
