You, Not I
The first rule of copywriting is to write to a person.
Pretend like you’re writing a letter to someone you know. When I write emails, copy, or articles, I pretend like I am writing an email to my little sister.
Write to a person.
Say “you”, and don’t say “I.”
Ironically, I have been breaking my own rule. (Shit, I just did it again.)
I realized the reason why I am struggling with my writing, is because I have been writing all about myself. The worst place I can be is in my own head, thinking about myself, and making my life about me.
Let’s change that now.
If you’re struggling to find your way, then consider making your life about other people. It is usually the case that the less you think about yourself, the happier you’ll be.
