Taking a Step Back
Things have been intense lately.
Stodzy is firing on all cylinders. We are hiring new employees, working with new clients and doing great work. I’m feeling very proud.
At the beginning of the year, we set ambitious goals for ourselves and it looks like we will be able to hit those goals.
But guess what?
We are intentionally NOT going to hit our goals.
I never thought I would say these words, but as a team, we decided to slow down.
In the agency business, it’s important that as you earn new business, you also scale your employees and your systems. We are taking time to re-evaluate and make sure that our team is AHEAD of where we need to be.
Too often, agencies play catchup. They take on more business than they are staffed for. Inevitably, someone quits and the team is working past their capacity. Burnout sets in and the work suffers.
That’s not going to happen to us.
So for the first time in the history of my company, we are closed off for new business. I can’t believe I just said that out loud.
So Guess What? I’m Taking a Step Back
Over the next two weeks, I am going to bring the intensity level down and find time to do some of the things I’ve never had enough time for.
We need to clean up our systems for our design and development department, there are too many cooks in the kitchen. We can do better.
I need to clean up my onboarding process. When we bring in new clients, we still sometimes get hung up on the specifics of what each client receives. How can I create templates that documents the specific needs of each client?
I want to learn more. Maybe I will take a new sales course or a new copywriting course.
I want to get back to writing my morning blog post. I am happy I took the time off, but I miss it.
I want to keep getting better at Muay Thai. It feels great to have something I am passionate about.
I need to clean up my finance portfolio. My stocks are a mess. I have no idea what I am up on and what I am down on. I have calls over the next few weeks to clean this up.
Most importantly, I want to spend time with Jules and the little dude. I promised myself when he was born that I would not spend his childhood working.
One More Thing… Thank You
I don’t say this enough, but I want to expend some thanks and gratitude to all my readers. I have been blogging about my life and my thoughts for almost 5 years. Some of you have been reading my blog for the entire duration.
It’s a cool thing to feel connected to so many of you who I have never met.
The email replies I get each morning mean the world to me. It does not go un noticed.
Thank you.
