I need to get back on track.
It has been a wild few days. The Eagles are Super Bowl champs (kick rocks, haters), I announced the sale of my company, and The Sweet Girl has been waking up at 2 a.m. and screaming every night for the last two months. Seriously, can anyone help us with this? We are getting desperate.
In today’s issue, I am free-associating to get my thoughts and my life organized.
LFG. 🔥
1. I Give Myself a B+ So Far With Serving My Customers
As you know, The Shop AI is my new agency. I have a good number of customers so far, and this time around, I am handling all the account management myself.
One of the friction points in my old company was that I would close the deals and then pass the account to a manager. Since customers had already built a relationship with me, they would inevitably call me when they needed something.
I realize this limits my scalability, but for The Shop, I have committed to handling all customer service personally. This ensures the relationship stays with me. It will prevent the company from growing into something huge, but it will allow me to stay in control and maintain a low-stress business.
My goal is not to be big. My goal is to be profitable.
That said, it has been an adjustment.
Sometimes I feel like I am managing everything exceptionally well. Other times, I feel like I am falling behind.
I give myself a B+ in this regard, but account management is my top priority for this agency. I need to make it an A+.
Small improvements over time.
2. I’m Launching the Podcast
Yep.
Here is the deal. Last year, I sold my podcast and told myself I was done with podcasting.
At the time, I wanted to dedicate all my time and energy to building a sales team. I completely failed at that and learned that I am much more effective at generating inbound leads through content, media, and relationships.
My podcast was simultaneously the worst and best use of my time.
I made zero direct revenue from it. I never sold ads, and I do not think I gained any clients from it either. Maybe I sold some subscriptions to The Copyblogger Academy, but the revenue was nowhere near the time and effort I put into it.
At the same time, my podcast generated millions for me in secondary revenue:
Investment opportunities
Relationships
Deal flow
Partnerships
Introductions to new people through guests
Access to high-value individuals
I have a solid following. Almost everyone I ask agrees to come on my show because they know my audience makes it worth their time.
I am all in on the podcast. I am going to have fun. I am going to focus on business, AI, and investing. Most importantly, I will use it to expand my network.
3. The Model Is Clear
I may be repeating myself, but writing this out in my notebook solidified my mission.
The mission has three parts:
TGS Digital
TGS Media
TGS Holdings
TGS Digital: This is the client services side of the business. It includes The Shop AI and possibly other lead-generation websites for specific industries. But primarily, this is The Shop AI and its services.
TGS Media: The media side consists of several assets:
My newsletter
My YouTube channel
My social media
My podcast
I am not sure how I will monetize the media yet. I will likely go the sponsorship route and use it to attract investment opportunities.
TGS Holdings: This is my personal holdings company and the ultimate endgame. My goal has always been to build a portfolio of assets that generate $10,000,000 a year into Stoddart LLC.
The longer I do this, the more I realize $10,000,000 a year might be too small of a goal. But I will hit that number before moving the goalposts.
Thanks for Reading
I realize today’s email is not packed with value, but I needed to get this on the page to see it clearly.
One last thing.

EVERY night at 2a? Brutal. My older daughter wakes up every couple of weeks (usually before a big day) at 2:30a and it takes her 2 hours to fall back asleep. It's rough.
Sorry that's where you're at.
My daughter used to cry every night like this as well. I was going out of my mind. Someone said to me - put her on the toilet. So I did and it worked. After that I’d make her go before and if she woke up we went straight to the toilet and then straight back to bed. Maybe it could work for you too?
