Mind Your Footing
My friend Tricia reposted this on Instagram. I loved the message.
I think about this a lot with my son.
My wrestling coach in high school made a point of never saying the word “don’t.” He actually said “don’t say don’t.” The idea is that if you tell someone what they shouldn’t do, you put the idea of doing it in their head.
Instead, tell them what they should do.
So instead of saying “hey, don’t let him pull your hips in.”
He would say “Tim, sprawl your hips back.”
I am mindful of encouraging my son to do something, instead of not doing something.
It’s a short video. Watch it.
