I record a YouTube video every week. I have to do it because the video gets sent out on the Copyblogger newsletter each week, and since I have sponsors on the newsletter, I can’t miss an issue.
I think YouTube is awesome, but I struggle to take the production seriously.
Some people claim that production value and editing is important if you want to grow a YouTube channel, but I don’t agree.. Peter Zeihan records a 5 minute video from his phone and publishes it every morning. He gets hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions) of views from each video. He’s the YouTuber I watch the most. To me, Peter Zeihan is proof that the substance of the content matters much more than the production.
I think of him every week when I make my videos.
I decided to take a similar approach. My strategy is to share my experience and record my marketing experiments and publish them.
I like it. I enjoy keeping it simple.
Here’s this weeks video. Let me know what you think.
Man, I know if I were to start a YouTube channel it'd definitely be more basic than this. I think you've done a great job there. I'd be the 'one take phone recording guy' because I don't think I could be bothered with ANY editing 😅
