Igli Laci: No Bullshit Breakdown of Public Companies
My guest today is Igli Laci.
Igli is the creator of Equity Breakdown, which is a weekly newsletter that provides a "no bullshit breakdown of public companies."
Igli's newsletter is a very high level publication, which provides a more perspective, and analysis of companies than any other publication I have seen.
I love his newsletter and when he agreed to come on my show I was thrilled at the opportunity to talk to him.
A New Way of Investing
Igli and I both agreed that the current state of investing is nothing like it was over the past 100 years.
These days, there is no such thing as a 30 year mortgage or a long term pension plan. We are all individuals more than we have ever been, and so the ability and the know how to invest in our future is more important than ever.
We see evidence of this in a few different areas.
We invest in ourselves by creating brands around our ideas.
We invest in ourselves by participating in new markets, such as...
NFT's
Memorabilia
EFT's
Stock and tech companies
We invest in new industries that wouldn't traditionally work, such as...
Biotech
Batteries
Digital currencies
Laci likes to analyze companies who follow Cathy Woods philosophy of "big ideas."
About Equity Breakdown
Laci's newsletter requires a great deal of reserach.
I admire his ability to take complex and verbose information and present it in a way that gets straight to the facts. His newsletter is very bullet style, and it cuts all the fat off of what would typically be a projection or an analysis that is meant to present a public company in a certain light.
When I asked Igli more about why he chooses to write about the companies he does, we spoke more about the concept of big ideas, and to invest in a future that is more sustainable and can help humanity in the long run.
The EV Market
The most recent publications on Equity Breakdown we're all about companies that are trying to make an impact in the Electric Vehicle market.
First, he did a breakdown of the Electric Vehicle market as a whole. Then he did a breakdown of Arrival, which specializes in more industrial vehicles such as buses and transport vehicles for goods. Finally, he finishes with a breakdown of Proterra.
The race for production is very fascinating with these companies, because the success is more nuanced than creating the best product. The production lines, the interoperability of chargers, and the integration with cities and municipalities will be a huge factor in the failure of success of these companies.
Which has a lot to do with why Tesla still has the first movers advantage, even through they are working mostly on consumer vehicles.
The Space Industry
Igli also has a huge interest in writing about the space industry. There are some very exciting developments here. Igli and I got to geek out for a bit, because I have always been really fascinated with space and I love talking about it.
Igli plans to write more about companies that are potentially looking to mine asteroids for precious metals and materials, companies that are wanting to build stations on the moon.
It is a very exciting time.
For a Brighter Future
We finished the conversation talking about the future, and the changes we will need to make in order to create a sustainable living situation for our species to survive long term on our planet.
It was a good moment to share in the similar ideas that Igli and I have on the potential for humanity.
I loved every second of this conversation. I hope you enjoy it as well.
In this episode, we talked about...
Igli's path as an Albanian immigrant
How investing and finance became such a big part of Igli's life
How Igli writes his breakdowns, and what change he hopes to make with his writing and his newsletter
Why Igli believes in investing so much
How entrepreneurship is going to contribute to humanity and ultimately provide us with a better world.
