Elon ... 🤔

In case you haven’t seen, Elon Musk made a crazy statement today in an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin in an event with The New York Times.

I find Elon fascinating.

Part of me doesn’t understand why people are so upset about him. He’s a weird dude, sure. But he’s clearly a genius and so far I haven’t concluded that he means anyone any harm. So like, mind your business maybe?

But then there’s the flip side. I’m just as confused as to why there is such a cult following behind him. As if he is some patron saint of the first amendment or like he’s some rebel that is looking out for the common man.

He’s none of those things. Or maybe he’s all of them. An enigma for sure.

Most of the time, I find him to be a man who loves the center of attention and is good at using that attention to create emotion.

Which brings to me today’s hysterical meltdown.

Elon Musk made an incredibly stupid comment on a tweet that had clear anti sematic undertones.

As a consequence, many of Twitter biggest advertisers pulled their advertising budgets away from Twitter.

When asked about it in the interview, Musk gets very angry and calls it “blackmail”, and then says that they can all go fuck themselves.

It’s hysterical, a bit cringey, and absolutely ridiculous.

But this is the confusing part. It’s confusing mostly because of how obvious it is.

Musk is in the “anti-woke” club. He is pro freedom of speech (isn’t everyone) and apparently he bought an entire tech company for $47 billion dollars all in the name of freedom of speech.

But then, he gets angry when there is backlash to the things he says.

Freedom of speech is ubiquitous. If a business pulls their advertising dollars off of a platform due to a misalignment in values, that is a form of freedom of speech. That is free markets at work. What could possibly be a more authentic version of freedom of speech?

You say something stupid and people react on their own free will.

Yet, to Elon and to the Elon cult, this is some grandiose hysteria created and executed by the elite woke leftists.

wtf?

Am I the crazy one? The contradiction is so obvious. How is this a thing?
