5 am workouts
Yes … I also saw that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.
It would be an easy win to write about that this morning, but I can’t because today is a big day for me.
I absolutely fucking hate morning workouts. I hated them in high school, I hated them at wrestling practice, I hated them when I was doing strength training with a coach in 2019, and I hate them now.
But I have no choice.
Since my eardrum exploded, I have completely lost my routine of fitness. I stopped working out the last two weeks in Miami. Subsequently, I came back to Nashville and then it was straight to Colorado, then Portland and Seattle.
In that time, I’ve felt and seen my body change. I’ve lost definition and muscle tone in my arms, my legs, and my core. I’m not saying that to shame myself, I’m simply acknowledging my starting point.
I don’t feel good in my body right now, I need to focus and get discipline.
Here’s the problem. Life is fucking crazy.
Jules is kicking ass in school, Julian is literally tearing the house apart, I am busting my ass at work and somewhere in between all the madness, I still like to eat, read, relax, talk to my family on the phone and live my life.
So when do I have time to fitness?
The answer is in between 4:30 am and 6:30 am.
Michelle Obama
Do you remember when Michelle Obama was in every fashion magazine with her sick body and arms? I remember her doing a round of interviews about her workout routine. She said …
“If I had an important meeting at 4:30 am, I would wake up and go, so why is it different when I’m exercising?
I always remembered that.
The Magic Hour
I enjoy waking up early, but I like to sit in the dark and drink my coffee and write my blog and stare off into space to think.
My life has hit a tipping point. This is the only available time I have to completely focus on nothing but myself. My health, my body, my mindset, my vision and my emotional state.
This is how it has to be.
It’s not all doom and gloom. I don’t want to finish today’s blog with an undertone of negativity. I’m not going into this dragging my feet. Like all things, after it is built into my routine, I am 100% sure I will enjoy the process and will probably look at other people who work out at night like they’re crazy.
Yeah okay … that’s it. I gotta get to work.
