I did it.
I deleted Facebook.
I deleted it because it doesn’t add any value to my life.
I deleted it because the entire platform is designed for the sole purpose of distracting you and taking you away from the work that really matters.
When you are on Facebook, you are the product. Facebook doesn’t have anything of value to offer other than your attention. They need you, you don’t need them. Billions of dollars and countless man hours have been spent carefully studying ways to pull you away from whatever it is you’re doing so that you can “look at this thing instead.”
I’m no longer participating in that.
I’ve been toying with the idea for some time now. I’ve deactivated and reactivated my profile countless times. Today was the day I said enough.
No more fishing for likes or getting caught up in confirmation bias. From now on, I am taking ownership over what it is that I allow into my mind.
