My Mission For Simplicity

I admit, over the last ten years, I’ve allowed my businesses to get overly complicated. You don’t realize it when you go into it, but every new project you start, venture you invest in, or industry you decide to work in creates more complications.

Taxes, finance tracking, task management, and tech issues are at the top of the list, but there is also a downstream effect to everything.

I turn forty next month. I’ve been reflecting a lot on what I’ve done well and what I wish I could have done better. At the top of the list of things I wish I could have done better is saying no more often.

When I look at my portfolio, I see and am grateful for a lot of success.

But I often wonder what would have happened if I had the courage and discipline to stay fully focused on what excites and inspires me the most.

That is healthcare. I love lead generation and sales in the healthcare space.

Out of all my investments, the healthcare businesses I started and the digital assets I built within that space have been the most successful.

So why did I feel the need to step outside of that?

The answer: ego.

Sticking With What You’re Good At

I’m good at:

• building teams

• closing deals

• writing

• local SEO and lead generation

When I was in my early thirties, I also started day dreaming about being an online influencer.

I was very inspired by people like Fred Wilson, Austin Kleon, and of course, Seth Godin. These three made a habit of publishing great writing and using it to grow their following.

But I was also chasing ideas that in my heart I didn’t fully believe in. There was a whole group of people on Twitter writing about building a big diversified portfolio of products and companies in different industries and networks.

It was Gary Vaynerchuk and Alex Hormozi, in particular, who paved a way for what I thought was success.

I would go to VaynerX and look at all the different companies Vaynerchuk had in his portfolio. I would dream of what it would be like to one day run a conglomerate of companies. (More often than I’d like to admin.)

And with Hormozi, I thought I could do great lead generation and growth in ANY kind of business. Sure, I am very skilled at online marketing, but the reality is that every business has its own nuances, language, software products, and culture.

Every time I had to learn a new industry, I was starting from zero.

Not to mention, what you learn over time, and what the influencers don’t tell you is how many of these new projects and investments fail. Most of them fail, but you never hear about the losses.

That constant cycle of learning new nuances and starting over is exhausting. It is exactly what made me realize the immense value of doubling down on my core strengths instead of trying to do it all.

Look, I have no regrets, but if I could go back and advise my younger self with the “if I knew then what I know now” speech, I would tell him not to chase after the dopamine of starting from scratch in a brand new industry.

I would tell him to stay ruthlessly focused on the boring business you are already good at.

Everyone Is Good At Something

This is why I don’t believe in the idea of being a generalist.

We all have certain things we could talk about for hours, for free, with no one paying attention.

Whatever that is, that is what you want to focus your business career around.

For me, I could talk about local SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and sales forever. I never get sick of it. I love it.

So to bring this essay back around full circle, I have spent the last two years simplifying my business. I have built systems that run the operations for me, brought in new teammates who are better at specific skills than I am, and focused on what I am good at.

I don’t regret anything. In fact, I have loved every second of it. If I could go back in time, I am not even sure I would do anything differently.

But I know in my heart that I caused myself a lot of pain, frustration, stress, and worry by trying to be too many things to too many people.

The ability to be comfortable in your own skin and avoid making decisions based on what you think other people want you to do is a true blessing. I am envious of the people who have that kind of self confidence from a young age, because for me, it took thirty six years to cultivate.

Conclusion: Have The Courage To Say No

Saying no is a courageous act, because every time you say no, you are denying yourself a potential future of what it could be like if you say yes.

There are lots of people incentivized to get you to say yes to many different opportunities.

Saying no feels like letting people down or missing out on an opportunity.

But in reality, saying no means saying yes to yourself. It means saying yes to what you truly believe in and betting on yourself.

Remember how we started this conversation? Simple things don’t break. Saying no is the ultimate tool you have to protect that simplicity. When you say no to the wrong opportunities, you protect your focus, keeping your foundation strong so it never breaks.

It is a courageous act. I hope you are brave enough to say no more often.

The more I think about it, the less excited I become about the AI industry as a whole. Subsequently, the more excited I become about the high-level AI workflows we can create.

Today, I want to share some fascinating statistics with you, and then contradict myself by explaining where the exciting AI opportunities actually are.

Let’s get started.

The AI Slop Is Real And No One Is Benefiting

A friend of mine recently reminded me of “the dead internet theory.” The notion behind this idea is that when the entire internet is a network of AI agents creating content, talking to each other, and interacting with each other, then the internet has lost its life.

I am seeing this play out firsthand.

For example, I have a big LinkedIn following. As recently as a year ago, I could publish a post and get a few dozen comments from legitimate followers.

Now, every comment is AI. My “engagement” is higher than ever, but my conversion rate from engagement to newsletter subscribers (the one you’re reading now) is lower than ever. Because no real people are engaging with my content.

AI talking to AI.

Yesterday, I read two articles that completely blew my mind.

Graphite, which is a well-known technical SEO company, released a study where they discovered that over half of the text-based content on the internet is written by machines.

In addition, an independent group of AWS researchers concluded that more than 57% of all text-based content (including social media, forums, and chatrooms) is created by AI.

But this phenomenon isn’t just limited to blog posts and social media comments. Just as AI commoditized our words, it is now rapidly commoditizing our code. What’s weirder, is that AI is coming to kill SaaS as well.

The Commoditization Of Code: Why Vibe Coding Will Kill Commoditized SaaS Products

I’ve been thinking a lot about how AI creates a race to the bottom.

What got me thinking about this was my personal brand. A few weeks ago, I started recording daily videos and publishing them. These videos are not AI, it’s me. My own thoughts, my own perspectives.

These videos are doing AWESOME! I am building a big following, and I don’t use AI anywhere. (The same is true for this newsletter btw. Humanity for the win).

So then I started thinking about AI software products. Every day, a new web application software is released and new product releases are added into already existing platforms. It’s easier than ever to use platforms like Episolo to build your own web app in hours, if not minutes.

So if it’s so easy, how come these new web apps aren’t thriving?

Conversely, how come my own AI product, Directorly, is thriving? We are generating new sales and making more money every day with new sign-ups.

The answer is specialization.

Directorly is a custom-coded AI tool. It’s not something you can prop up in an afternoon with a generic prompt, because the functionality is hyper-specific to people who want to build robust and sophisticated directories. We built a defensible moat by deeply understanding the exact data structures and proprietary workflows our users actually need. You can not build directorly with an out-of-the-box AI generator.

Specialization is the key to standing out online with your content. It’s also the key to building products and using AI to increase efficiencies in your current business.

Generic AI Tools Are The SaaS Version Of AI Slop

If you want to make money with AI, you need to build something special.

Specific knowledge, technical skills, and industry specific insights are more important than basic coding skills and app development.

99% of all AI products will fail, because it’s a race to the bottom. Weirdly enough, the people who choose to use AI as a tool, and build agent models to solve hyper-specific problems while using hyper-specific data sets, are the ones who will win.

The more personalized and specific, the better.

AI will not make it easier to make money. In a lot of ways, I think AI will make it harder to make money, because if you want to stand out in a marketplace where everything becomes an instantly commodified version of itself, then you have to live in a place where you bring specific and unique viewpoints into a market that is not easy to learn or understand.

Does anyone really care about another AI-generated task management system? Or macro tracker? Or content generator?

No. I don’t think they do.

As always, the riches are in the niches.

In a world of instant generation, the real winners will be the entrepreneurs willing to invest the heavy time and money required to build deep solutions that AI cannot do alone. They are the ones who will own the future.

Google just released a massive core update. This is big news and anyone who generates traffic from Google needs to pay attention.

In today’s issue, I will break down the details of the update and give you a perspective on what this means going forward for content that ranks in search engines and how you can use this update to your advantage.

Understanding Google’s Intentions

To understand this recent core update, you must understand where Google has been going the last few years. A lot of Google’s new ranking factors have centered around 3 core ideas.

It is not just about the content that gets published, but the reputation of the brand and the person writing the content.

1. E-E-A-T (Pronounced Eat, like I want to eat a cookie)

This stands for Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust.

In short, it is no longer enough to simply have great content. Now, Google factors in the reputation of the brand writing the content, and even the author whose name is assigned.

2. Stronger Core Web Vitals and UX

Google wants your website to be technically sound and provide a good experience for users.

• Fast load speed

• Clean architecture

• Pogo sticking: When a user clicks on your site and then instantly hits the back button.

3. Smarter AI Detection

Google does not care if you use AI to write and publish content. They care if you are lazy about it. The detectors look for key signals such as:

• How your content relates to other content on the same subject

• Penalizing sites that are mass publishing hyper optimized content with the intent of overwhelming the algorithm

• Rewarding AI assisted sites that personalize the content to meet EEAT criteria

Now that we understand those three foundational goals, we can understand this core update much better. Google is simply doubling down. They want to reward web pages that are authentic, useful, and solve a specific problem.

But here is where the game truly changes.

The Paradigm Shift Of These Most Recent Core Updates

The biggest takeaway from this update is that Google is no longer evaluating your web pages in isolation; they are measuring your content against competing results.

To truly understand this, you must look at it from a distant vantage point.

Let us imagine you have two pages of content.

Page 1 is 3500 words, is perfectly optimized and meets all the criteria.

Page 2 is a short essay that is written from a personal vantage point and quickly solves the problem of the user.

Now let us imagine that page 2 has better user signals, meaning that people stay on the page longer, the page has citations and testimonials on different sites, and the page is written by an author that also has strong brand signals from across the internet.

In theory, page 2 would outrank page 1 by comparison.

It is not that page 2 is inherently better, it is that Google puts pages in competition with each other to match them up specific to that query.

You do not have to be the best page anymore, you just need to be better than your competitors. It is a bit of a shift in mindset, but it is a critical point.

So, if your site rankings dropped this week, it does not necessarily mean you were penalized. It most likely means that Google found a competitor whose content demonstrated higher value, expertise, and trustworthiness.

The Death Of Geo Spam

My SEO focus is primarily on local businesses. I have written extensively on why I think local search is still the biggest SEO opportunity right now, and why I think it will continue to be the case.

As such, the goal posts have moved for local search. It is no longer feasible to create 50 location based pages with AI or cheap writers to try and rank for every suburb and township in the area (for example, dentists in Centennial, dentists in Aurora, dentists in Highlands) with almost identical text.

Now, these location based pages must hold their own against the competition.

Meaning each location page should have unique context.

The March Spam and Core updates are absolutely brutalizing those lazy sites. Google systems are now heavily penalizing topical sprawl and thin, repetitive local pages.

Local pages now must offer unique, hyper localized value. For example, each page should have photos of jobs done in that location, or local reviews, or localized pricing.

If these pages do not stand out from the rest, Google is dropping them from the index.

Conclusion: This Is Such A Huge Opportunity

For some reason, whenever there is a core update from Google, SEO companies and businesses that generate traffic get nervous. I have never seen it this way. Every Google update is an opportunity to dominate the search engines even more.

Google traffic remains the most valuable and highest intent traffic on the internet. When a user visits your website from a search engine, it is usually because they typed in a query matching your exact services.

For example, if someone searches for the best hormone clinic in Denver, there is a very high probability they are actively looking to book an appointment today.

If you are smart, you will invest in separating yourself from your competition simply by executing at a higher level.

That is what makes these updates so great. You do not need to be a genius marketer to get rich, you simply need to create content that is better, more useful, and more helpful than your competition.

It has never been simpler to build a big business through SEO.

There are two major opportunities to get into the neuro wellness space. I see these opportunities as service based and tech based.

1. Somatic Therapy and Somatic Coaching

Somatic therapy is the clinical and coaching term for this type of regulation using body centered approaches to heal trauma and manage stress.

According to recent reports from Coherent Market Insights, the global somatic therapy market is actively surging and is projected to reach $12.4 billion by 2032. The report specifically cites the rise of social media awareness, corporate wellness programs, and post COVID burnout as the main drivers for this explosion in demand.

2. Wearables For Nervous System Regulation

According to recent market analysis from Straits Research, the global fitness app market hit a valuation of $12 billion in 2025. The absolute fastest growing segment within this market is wearable device integration, which tracks biometrics like heart rate variability, sleep, and stress.

It’s a very interesting market that has a proven effect in helping people. This tech boom is simply proving what practitioners already know to be true about the power of these modalities.

The Market Is Shifting And The Opportunities Are Significant

Clearly, people are sick and tired of feeling stressed out and on edge all the time. This massive shift means these practices are becoming a subset of other industries such as biohacking, therapy, longevity, and life coaching.

Here are a few ways I see opportunities to capitalize on this demand:

• Add somatic therapy to an already existing mental health business, such as an addiction treatment center or mental health facility

• Add breathwork services to wellness hub businesses, such as ketamine clinics, hormone clinics, and longevity clinics

• Bring somatic coaching or breathwork into enterprise offices as high stress and dysregulation is the number one reason employers lose their most valuable employees (my personal favorite, as enterprise businesses will pay top dollar to keep their employees happy)

• Build membership sites or communities to host workshops and live events for paying members

• Do live breathwork events, retreats, conferences, and events all centered around these healing modalities

Conclusion On A More Personal Note

If you want proof that this data translates to the real world, just look at my own house. My wife is a breathwork facilitator, somatics coach, and psychedelics guide. I have seen firsthand the amount of interest in this market.

I don’t anticipate the world will become any less stimulating for us, and people are dying (in some cases quite literally) for a way to become more regulated.

My wife started her business last year, and it grew so fast that she can no longer keep up with one on one clients and needs to move fully to an online membership model and group events.

I may be biased, but I see a huge ecosystem flourishing around these services. I think people are starting to figure out that the healing we are seeking is not in our minds as much as it is in our bodies.

Breathwork in particular has changed my life. Once you incorporate these practices into your daily health routine, you see how helpful and effective it is to simply release the stress and traumas embedded into your body.

It’s a game changer. Once someone does it, they never go back.

What an opportunity.

AI is fascinating because it is an industry where all the value is going to be gobbled up by the consumer.

In February I wrote why I think AI is a bad investment, and I stand by that thesis.

However, over the last month, I have seen Anthropic and Claude clearly pulling away as the front runners.

Claude Takes Over Your Mac

Anthropic just released a preview that lets Claude completely control your desktop. It can click, type, and navigate your Mac while you are away.

This is a clear signal that Anthropic wants to ship work that has real world standing in the marketplace.

• Mobile Command: The new Dispatch app lets you assign tasks from your phone directly to your computer.

• Smart Execution: Claude uses app integrations when possible before taking over your screen.

• Access: It is currently only available for macOS users on Pro or Max plans.

This update happened just four weeks after Anthropic acquired the startup Vercept. We are rapidly approaching a reality where you can get work done without ever opening your laptop.

I published a video breaking down the update in more detail, and I gave some extra insight as to why Anthropic is pulling ahead of OpenAI.

Why This Matters

It is easy to look at a new tech release and think it is just another shiny object or a fun new headline to talk about with your friends at coffee.

But this relentless speed of execution from Anthropic is exactly why AI is no longer just a fun toy. It is a mandatory business tool. When a company can buy a startup and ship a desktop controlling agent four weeks later, the landscape is shifting faster than most people realize.

This is especially true when the shipped products have the ability to create massive efficiencies in the way that they do.

The Real Opportunities For AI Entrepreneurs

AI is such a new frontier that when product updates and releases like this get announced, there is a very low adoption rate. The new Claude Dispatch product has the potential to completely revolutionize your business, but only if you take the time and make the investments to execute.

Most of you probably still use AI as a writing assistant, a research assistant, or even a glorified search engine to find information and learn.

But there is a small percentage of the population, especially in the enterprise space, who are implementing AI in a way that creates real leverage in their businesses.

These efficiencies are where these remote agents shine because they can perform the menial tasks that clog up the workflow and data flow in your business.

But we are getting to a point in the bell curve where the early adopters have implemented AI and the masses, the early majority, will soon follow.

The smart ones have already mastered the use of LLMs and prompt engineering, and they are now executing on agentic models and incorporating them into their actual businesses.

Conclusion: Do Not Be Afraid

There is so much fear around AI, which is normal. New technology brings fear because it brings uncertainty.

There is always the low probability chance that AI turns into the Terminator and society crumbles. However, a much more likely scenario is that there will be immediate white collar job destruction, followed by a thriving AI ecosystem that creates more jobs and more opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

I encourage you to take this seriously, to push past the friction of uncertainty, and to invest in these new technologies.

I’m at an inflection point. Quantum Leads has grown to the stage where I really need to start hiring and bringing in talent to fill specific roles.

The last year and a half has been a grind. I’m grateful to be in a position where I’m no longer stressed about cash flow. I have a very small group of great clients, and now I need to dig deep and go above and beyond to deliver.

Most companies work really hard to be mediocre. I need to be excellent. That is the only way to truly succeed. Excellence.

The Fire Horse

My wife is a bit of a crunchy hippie type.

Jules and I get along so well because we’re opposites in that regard. She talks about Mercury being in retrograde, and I talk about quantum mechanics.

We have a running joke that 2026 is the year life accelerates for us because it is the “year of the fire horse.”

Truth be told, I don’t completely understand what that means, but it has been giving me a lot of strange motivation. Anytime a new challenge arises, I look at Jules and say, “Don’t worry, the fire horse is galloping.”

It’s a little mental trick, but it’s working.

“You Can’t Afford Not To”

The fire horse is just another way of saying that I’m playing offense. In business, you have to take risks and get after it. Playing it safe is like standing still on a down escalator. You have to take massive action because entropy is always pulling you backward to homeostasis.

So, I have been wrestling with the idea of bringing new employees onto the team. I need experts to run my departments.

Specifically, I need a head of operations and a head of strategy.

I was anxious about it and said to Jules, “I don’t know if I can afford to do this right now.”

She immediately replied...

“You can’t afford not to.”

You know those moments in life that punch you in the gut? This was one of them.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the crazy person.

I live in a very “tech bro” dominated sphere of the internet. Everyone I know is obsessed with AI stocks. Meanwhile, I’m over here like, “Yeah, but have you considered the intersection of AI with healthcare inefficiencies and the economic impact the adoption of Glucagon Like Peptides?”

I believe GLP1 drugs are more important than AI. I also think they present a much more lucrative business opportunity because the problem they solve has such a mass market and generates such immediate benefits.

First, Let’s Talk About The Potential GLP1 Market

GLP1 drugs trick your brain into feeling like it already got its dopamine fix. They act like a mute button for your reward center, making you feel completely satisfied so you stop constantly chasing food or addictive habits.

They are a potential “miracle drug” (yes I know how obnoxious that sounds) to treat compulsive behavior disorders like obesity, drug addiction, and gambling addiction.

The total addressable market for GLP1 drugs is astounding.

• The total economic cost of obesity has ballooned to $470 billion annually.

• Obesity costs US industries roughly $347 billion a year in absenteeism, disability payments, and decreased productivity alone.

• Healthcare spending for individuals with obesity is roughly 50% higher than for those at a normal weight.

• The baseline economic impact of general substance abuse (alcohol, illicit drugs, and prescription misuse) drains over $820 billion from the US economy every single year through healthcare, crime, and lost workdays.

Simply put, the market is huge. Like ginormous huge.

You’re Still Very Early: Oral GLP1 Drugs Are Just Hitting The Market

This is a potential gold rush that is just getting started. If you watch the mainstream news, you might think that you missed the boat on the GLP1 wave.

That is not even remotely close to being true. The Global GLP1 market size is projected to hit $254 billion by 2034.

There have been significant advancements in the distribution of GLP1 drugs. More specifically, GLP1 drugs can now be taken orally.

Historically, patients had to inject them with needles. There is a huge part of the population (especially men and those who are in addiction recovery) who simply will not commit to that.

In December of 2025, the FDA approved Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy® pill, the first and only oral GLP1 for weight loss in adults.

That was three months ago.

The oral version of GLP1 drugs brings this incredible technology to the masses. It is now possible to reach the 130 million people who are viable candidates for this drug.

Absolutely incredible.

How To Build A Business Around GLP1

Healthcare entrepreneurs and professionals are in an amazing position to make millions while also providing a product and service that is helping people and the world.

So how do you get started?

Step 1: Secure the ability to prescribe. You cannot do this without a doctor. If you are an MD, you are ready to go. If you are not an MD, you need to partner with one.

Step 2: Build your MSO. Since non doctors cannot legally own medical practices in most states, you create a Management Services Organization. Your MSO handles the marketing, the software, and the business entity. Your partnered MD handles the actual prescriptions. You build the business, and they practice the medicine.

Step 3: Find a pharmacy. You are not stocking these drugs in a back room. You need a pharmacy partner to fulfill and ship the medication directly to the patient.

• For branded pills or pens (like Orforglipron or Wegovy): Partner with a digital retail pharmacy (like Truepill or Alto) that can handle the fulfillment via API.

• For compounded versions: Partner with a heavily vetted, FDA registered 503A or 503B compounding pharmacy.

Step 4: Build your marketing engine. Ultimately, there will be a GLP1 gold rush. The winners in this industry will be those who are able to create a marketing and lead generation engine to create awareness for the product.

In today’s issue, I want to talk about the journey that every entrepreneur must go through if they want to succeed in today’s world while simultaneously keeping their sanity, maintaining their peace, and building serenity into their lives.

The Entrepreneurial Journey Of Your 20s, 30s, and 40s

For some, your 20s are a time of exploration.

It is when you have no responsibilities, and so you get to live carefree. You travel, party, and make bad decisions.

This was not my experience. Frankly, I do not agree with the American viewpoint of wasting your 20s.

For me, my 20s were when I got sober. I did not have any money and I did not have an education, so my only option was to work.

And I loved every second of it. My 20s were an incredibly exciting time because I was building my company and learning the ins and outs of business. It felt like every day was a new adventure.

I was broke, I was hungry (both metaphorically and literally), and I had this burning drive inside of me that knew I was either going to become a successful businessman or I was going to die in the process.

As Jim Rohn says, “I’ll do it, or die.”

That was me.

The Meme That Totally Changed My Perspective

In my 20s, I admit I saw a lot of people living different lifestyles than I was. At times I felt jealous.

A lot of my friends would go to South Beach on the weekends and go to house clubs. They would have parties on the beach or go out and hit on girls.

I did not do any of that. I was so desperate for money that I could not afford to go out, but I also had this strange guilt inside of me. I felt like I owed a debt to so many people who never gave up on me when I was doing drugs, getting arrested, and trying as hard as I could to either kill myself or end up with a lengthy prison sentence.

I felt like I had to work because I needed to make up for all the bad decisions I had made.

I wrestled with this guilt a lot. One day, I stumbled across an Instagram post that put it all into perspective for me.

It was not this exact image, but these were the exact words.

I will never forget seeing this meme.

Suddenly, everything made sense to me. I now had the perspective to realize what I was doing and, more importantly, why I was doing it.

I suddenly felt comfortable with the fact that I was not going to have those transformative experiences in my 20s. I was not going to backpack across the world, go to weeklong music festivals, or go on a lot of dates.

I was going to work. But the work was not in vain. There was a purpose to it.

That purpose was to set myself up for a future where I was living free of stress with financial independence and no financial fear.

I Turn 40 In May

I am not having the existential crisis that many people talk about. I am really looking forward to my 40s because I feel equipped to continue building the apparatus around me that generates cash flow, builds wealth, and cultivates amazing business relationships.

I admit that it did not quite turn out the way I thought.

I thought I would be living in a luxury high rise apartment somewhere with my wife and eating out at nice restaurants every night.

In time, you discover that what you think you want does not totally line up with what makes you happy. These days, I am taking my kids to school, sitting on Zoom meetings, talking business with a small group of friends, and teaching my kid how to ride his bike without training wheels. (One of the best moments of my entire life.)

Now that I am here, I continue to see more and more clutter in my life that I want to remove.

I am looking to keep what is essential and most profitable, and either offload the rest to my team or remove it altogether.

What To Remove And What To Keep

So that begs the question: if peace and serenity are the ultimate goals, what do I actually want to keep in my daily life, and what do I need to aggressively remove?

Here is my current breakdown.

What I want to keep …

• The Relationships: As you get older, you learn the same lesson everyone learns. The only thing that really matters is the relationships you make and the connections you have built along the way.

• Growing Quantum Leads: I love the healthcare space. As I have gotten older, I have gotten comfortable with this calling of mine to be fully committed to healthcare and to become the best healthcare marketing and business professional in the world.

• Writing: TimStodz.com is just getting started. In addition, my healthcare newsletter is thriving, and my team and I are adding an AI newsletter to accompany The Shop and a directory builders newsletter to accompany directorly.app.

What I want to remove …

• Notifications: I have made it a point to be available to people. I try my best to respond to emails, answer notifications, and answer questions from strangers. I do not want to do this anymore. It is going to feel weird because I feel like I am turning my back on people, but I need to prioritize the essentials.

• The Daily Social Media Grind: My personal brand content is going great, but I am removing myself from the daily posting and distribution. I have a great cadence now where I create one video a day, and I am entirely handing off the distribution across all my channels to my team.

• Task Management: As the CEO, I have made it a point to be available to all my clients and I will continue to do that. However, I need to bring in someone local to fully handle the execution, organization, and daily management of tasks and results. This is a huge priority for me right now. The less time I spend managing the daily tasks, the more time I have to call my clients, check in on them, and create an amazing customer experience.

The more time I spend thinking about where my priorities are, the more I can pinpoint exactly where to spend my time. I want to spend my time where I can have the biggest impact and provide the most value for my family and my customers.

In Conclusion: Grind In Your Twenties

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I don’t feel any kind of regret that I didn’t get the experiences I wanted when I was younger. Currently, it’s 7:06 am. My daughter is laying on my wife’s lap on the couch behind me. Jules is drinking coffee next to the fireplace, and I feel like I’m going to burst with gratitude.

The mornings and quiet, the nights are rewarding, and the days are exciting.

I would trade peaceful 40s for adventurous 20s all day. But now that I’m here, I’m transitioning to a place where I want less, I do less, and I receive more in exchange.

I feel good.

I am very passionate about the behavioral health industry.

I have personally been sober for 16 years. I never would have survived without my 30 day treatment program, as the program helped me detox and got me started on my journey.

It makes me nervous to see the trendline of inpatient behavioral health facilities declining. But when you look below the surface, the data tells a fascinating story about where the industry is actually heading. Let us look at the numbers.

First, Let Us Look At The Numbers

According to the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (NSSATS) tracking data from 2011 to 2020, we saw a massive structural shift in where patients were placed:

• Residential Decline: In 2011, residential treatment accounted for 9% of all clients in the system. By 2020, that number had nearly halved to just 5%.

• Outpatient Growth: Over the exact same period, the proportion of clients treated strictly in outpatient settings increased from 90% to 94%. (Given the millions of Americans in treatment, a 4% total system shift represents hundreds of thousands of patients diverted away from beds).

• Inpatient Stagnation: True hospital inpatient care remained entirely flat, hovering between just 1% and 2% of all clients.

When you break down the math, you see an interesting trend.

Overall, there are MORE people attending addiction treatment programs over the last 5 years. But almost all of those people have decided to do outpatient as opposed to inpatient.

So the addiction treatment market has grown, but almost all the growth has gone to outpatient.

Why Inpatient Programs Are Struggling So Bad

It is easy to look at the numbers and conclude that the demand for inpatient treatment is shrinking. That is not what is happening. It is that the economic model for inpatient treatment is facing a lot of structural challenges.

Fundamentally, there are two issues.

The Zoning Squeeze and Regional Hotspots

If you look at a map of premium inpatient treatment centers in the United States, you will not see an even distribution based on population need.

The vast majority of facilities are in:

• Los Angeles

• Orange County

• South Florida

• Arizona

• Texas

• Tennessee

This lopsided market is not an accident. It comes down to the path of least resistance in commercial real estate, zoning, and licensure.

The inpatient density problem has created stiff competition in these areas. So instead of an inpatient treatment landscape that is evenly spread, all the facilities are fighting for the same business in the same population centers, and then spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising to try and convince potential clients to fly to those specific locations.

The Payer Problem: Why Insurance is Killing the Model

Even if a facility survives the zoning wars and fills a bed, they immediately face an even bigger hurdle: actually getting paid.

The behavioral health insurance model is fundamentally broken, actively disincentivizing the inpatient care model.

According to the APA official report, reimbursement rates have been rapidly declining.

Here is a breakdown of why the payer system is currently a nightmare for operators:

• Weaponized Utilization Management (UM): Insurance companies use aggressive Utilization Management to avoid paying for expensive 30 to 90 day residential stays. They implement incredibly strict medical necessity criteria, often demanding that a patient fail multiple times in a cheaper, outpatient setting before they will approve an inpatient stay.

• The Concurrent Review Chokehold: Even if an insurer approves an admission, they rarely approve the whole stay. Clinicians are forced to get on the phone with insurance reviewers every few days to justify why the patient still needs to be there. The moment the insurer decides the patient is no longer in an acute, life threatening crisis, they cut off funding and force a discharge, regardless of whether the clinical team believes the patient is actually ready to go home.

• Abysmal and Decreasing Reimbursement Rates: Despite inflation and skyrocketing costs for 24/7 nursing and clinical staff, commercial insurers and Medicaid continuously squeeze behavioral health rates. Studies consistently show that behavioral health is reimbursed at significantly lower rates than standard medical and surgical care. As insurers push for Value Based Care models, they are actively slashing fee for service rates for inpatient beds to force the industry toward cheaper outpatient clinics.

• The Illusion of Parity: While the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act legally requires insurers to cover mental health the same way they cover physical health, enforcement is notoriously weak. Insurers skirt the law through administrative burdens, burying facilities in prior authorization delays, retroactive claim denials, and grueling appeals processes until the facility simply gives up or goes out of business.

Why Outpatient Clinics Are Where The Future Is Heading

With inpatient care becoming a logistical and financial nightmare, the smart money and the best operators are moving elsewhere.

The economics are undeniable.

The outpatient treatment model provides a much healthier economic ecosystem for a business to thrive. As far as I can tell, the outpatient model is a much better business opportunity.

Specifically, there are three advantages of outpatient.

First, it is much easier to generate patients from a local level. I have written extensively about local SEO, GBP, and local advertising in my newsletters, and local search still provides the lowest CPA and the best bang for your buck in terms of patient acquisition.

Second, the government and payers are incentivizing behavioral health clinics towards Value Based Care, which rewards keeping patients out of expensive hospital beds. A procedure performed in an outpatient clinic or Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) can cost an insurer 30% to 50% less than the exact same procedure done in a hospital.

Third, the outpatient model is an easier system to manage, as it does not require the overhead of living quarters, vans, 24/7 staff, food, and leases.

In Conclusion: Small But Profitable

Over my career as a healthcare entrepreneur, I have seen many inpatient clinics have success and I have seen just as many (if not more) inpatient startups crash and burn. (I have invested in a few myself, but who is counting? lol)

Moving forward, we will continue to see the market reward local outpatient clinics. People who need help would prefer driving to their treatment and going home, rather than committing to a 30 to 90 day stay at an inpatient facility.

The model has limitations, as scaling an outpatient clinic requires you to have multiple locations. The profit margins are healthy, but the limitation is on topline revenue.

Regardless, if you are looking to make money and live a relatively stress free lifestyle, then a well run outpatient clinic is the best opportunity I see.

This is true for all industries, not just behavioral health.

This morning, I had a conversation with someone whose opinion I appreciate.

This person was reading my newsletter long before I knew him, and I believe he still reads it today.

He told me that over time, my newsletter has gotten more business oriented. He told me the reason he loved following me in the first place was because of how authentic I was. My newsletter was a place for me to freely express myself, give insights into life, and share my views.

Maybe I Am Overcompensating

He is right. Over time, my newsletter has become more business oriented.

This is tricky because I am committed to helping young entrepreneurs build businesses that can change their lives.

I am a blue collar kid from a lower income upbringing. Money and the lack of it was always something that permeated my house. I hardly got to see my parents because of how hard they worked.

When I started my first online business, it was the first time I felt real hope that I could be financially secure. I grew up with the understanding that I would be living paycheck to paycheck my whole life because everyone lived paycheck to paycheck.

This isn’t a sob story as much as it’s a story of triumph. Entrepreneurship changed my life. I want you to feel that same hope and ease that I sometimes feel.

Sure, I have days where I feel anxious and afraid. But for the most part, I live life knowing that everything will be okay. I’ll always be able to provide for myself and my family.

I want that for you.

I want to help people build businesses that give them freedom, income, and purpose.

But Maybe What People Want Is More Of Me

This is the constant battle of building a personal brand.

How much of yourself should you share? How much are people following you because of what you can offer them, versus what you make them feel?

I’ve struggled with this my entire career. Sober Nation was essentially a diary of my sobriety. In a lot of ways, I think that’s why it was so successful in the beginning. Other young people saw me, someone who was young and ambitious and sober, and thought, “If he can do it, then I can do it too.”

That’s the secret to building a following. It’s not about technical marketing skills. It’s about what you make people feel when they look at you, when they read your story, or when they see where you come from.

I Need To Stop Thinking About It So Hard

I want to be respected. I want to be admired by my peers and my readers. Of course I do.

But maybe it’s not about being professional, high level, or serious. Maybe it’s just about being myself.

I am who I am. I am:

• Emotional

• Stubborn

• Sensitive

• Overly introspective and deep

I used to share these things. I used to write about all the crazy things that went through my head. Now, I stay focused on whether I am providing value.

Maybe the value has always been my story and my unique way of seeing the world.

Maybe the best thing I can do for my readers is to be relatable. So that when they see me, they think, “If he can do it, then I can do it too.”

In Conclusion: Rule Number 62

There’s a joke in 12 step fellowships.

Rule number 62 is, “Don’t take yourself so damned seriously.”

No one knows why it’s called rule 62. It’s just a random number, which is the entire point.

I will start incorporating rule 62 into my life more. At the end of the day, it’s just not that big of a deal.

This is just a Substack. These are just my words. And I will be dead one day, much sooner than I realize.

We are in the 1989 era of supplements. Meaning, the peptide industry is just getting started.

Today, we will talk about the market dynamics of peptides and determine whether it is right for you to offer peptides to your clients and what the business opportunities are.

What Are Peptides, And Why Do People Want Them?

To put it simply, peptides are short chain amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.

The market wants them because they help with tissue repair, weight management, and cognitive focus without the heavy side effects of some traditional pharmaceuticals.

Now that we have covered the basic definition, let us look at the market growth.

The Market Growth (The Blue Line):

The global peptide therapeutics market was valued at around $46.4 Billion in 2024 and is aggressively projected to hit anywhere from $83 Billion to over $100 Billion by 2030–2034.

The demand isn’t just steady; it’s accelerating as new applications (like GLP-1s for weight loss, and BPC-157/TB-500 for recovery) become mainstream.

The Search Volume Boom (The Orange Line):

For years, peptide search volume was a flat line largely driven by bodybuilders and biohackers. But starting around 2022/2023, patient awareness skyrocketed.

As mainstream media began covering drugs like Ozempic (which is a peptide) and regenerative therapies, everyday patients started Googling terms like “peptide clinics near me,” “BPC-157,” and “peptide therapy.”

The Takeaway for Clinics:

The orange line (patient search interest) is currently growing faster than the blue line (established market size). That gap represents the opportunity.

Patients are looking for these treatments right now, and the clinics that capture this search demand today will secure the revenue growth of tomorrow.

The True Opportunity In The Peptide Market

The reality is that consumers can buy peptides online, and have been able to do so for some time. The FDA regulations are such that many labs, pharmacies, and white label suppliers have been selling direct to consumer for “research purposes only.”

So if people can buy peptides online already, what can you do as a healthcare clinic to differentiate yourself from the ecommerce market?

The answer: Personalization and memberships.

The true opportunity here is to create a customized healthcare package for your members, and then add peptides into the service as part of their customized health, longevity, and optimization package.

There are options here, as it is completely reasonable to put custom packages together for every patient, where the custom package may include peptides, GLP 1, hormone replacement therapy, monthly bloodwork, and wellness optimization.

In fact, the service itself could be called a wellness optimization membership.

This is a premium membership and in most cases, will appeal to a high end client that is willing to pay top dollar for you to be “The CEO Of Their Health And Wellness.”

Your clinic must take this seriously, because differentiation and personalization is the best (and only) way to separate yourself from the direct to consumer market.

How To Generate New Peptide Leads And Customers

No one in the peptide space is doing this, and you can see for yourself that the few clinics who execute on these basic marketing tactics are the ones who are generating ALL of the business.

Conclusion: Start Now And Win Big In The Future

Anyone in the peptide market knows of the regulations (and borderline ridiculous restrictions) the FDA has put on peptides. Currently, there are only a few peptides that clinics are legally allowed to administer. But that will change.

The boom in the supplements market was a direct result of changes in FDA governance. When that happens, peptides will become mainstream in the same way supplements are now.

This is the time to establish yourself, because once these peptides hit the mass market, it will be a gold rush to acquire these patients.

I’ve had a lot of starts and stops, mostly because every time I built momentum, another challenge would pop up and halt my progress.

Now, I am ready to go.

Today, I will share my full plan to grow Tim Stodz Media, fully take over Substack, and explain why I am focused entirely on this platform.

The Dream That Is Tim Stodz Media

When I hired my business coach, the first thing I told her was that I wanted to build a media company focused on newsletters.

My inspiration was James Altucher. I love his writing and I loved how he was making bank from top tier newsletters and publications. His media company was based strictly on newsletters, and as you know, newsletters have been very profitable for me.

My plan was to grow a collection of newsletters in what I considered “new age” spaces:

• esports

• sobriety

• crypto

• personal branding and business

But, life got in the way.

This was 2020, and that’s when Jules got pregnant with The Little Dude. It was a very difficult pregnancy, so after he was born, we decided we wanted to adopt our second kid. But as fate would have it, The Sweet Girl came into our lives.

Over the course of three years, we had two kids who are 17 months apart.

Since we moved to Denver, I sold Stodzy, started Quantum Leads and grew it to seven figures, Jules started her business, and I recently sold Copyblogger.

It’s been one curveball after another, but I feel like the time is finally here to dive into my vision and my dream.

Why Am I Going All In Now?

I’ve always known that I didn’t want to build a traditional media company that sold ads.

I don’t like the advertising model. It’s a race to the bottom, and I have better things to do than haggle with advertisers about click through rates, pricing, and returns.

My plan was ALWAYS to use my newsletters to generate leads for my businesses, specifically my agencies.

I’ve known through my experience with the Stodzy newsletter that small lists can generate big revenue if the list is specific enough and tailored toward the right ICP.

Last month, I finally committed to writing my weekly healthcare business newsletter.

I’ve sent out five issues so far. Out of those five issues, I’ve generated three leads and closed two deals.

I’ve added $12,000 MRR to my agency simply by sending a newsletter every Friday.

It’s incredible how effective this strategy has been for me. Seth Godin’s original thesis of “permission marketing” still works, and it works better than ever.

Why Am I Going All In On Substack

I’ve always really loved Substack. The main reason I moved timstodz.com from WordPress to Substack was simply because I enjoyed the text editor. It’s very easy to write and get in the flow.

But there have been a few recent updates that totally convinced me to go all in on Substack.

1. The all in one platform. Now, through Substack, I can:

• host my VIP business membership platform

• stream live videos to paid members only

• stream live videos to everyone

• turn those live videos into clips and spread them to my followers

• build a community right on substack.com

• have private DMs and public chats with my paying members

I love it. It allows me to consolidate everything into one platform, making it very easy to create the systems and processes needed to run a media company.

2. Scott Galloway moved his entire operation to Substack.

Scott Galloway is who I model myself after in the media space. The way he created a media company with multiple publications, centralized through one unified brand, has always impressed me.

I like his vulnerability, his honesty, and most importantly, how he uses his media company to generate opportunities in investments, book deals, speaking gigs, and board seats.

I am at the stage in my career where I want to think bigger picture, so Scott is who I look up to. (Hey - call me maybe?☎️)

As soon as I saw that he moved profgmedia.com over to Substack, I knew it was time for me to bet on myself and go for it.

I’ve been saying for weeks that Substack is the future of personal branding, but I always thought it was too early to dive fully into the platform. Now that Scott Galloway has committed to Substack, I recognize the timing is actually perfect.

It is just early enough to be new, but not too early to be a first adopter.

I’m excited.

My Full Media Empire

Before I get started, I want to fully recognize that this is a long term plan. I have so much to do, and I am truly embracing this new philosophy of patience, essentialism, following my 5 major business philosophies, and allowing things to happen in their due time.

But here is the plan.

• TimStodz.com: What you’re reading now. This is the centerpiece of everything, and I will point all my social media to this newsletter. It will monetize through my VIP business membership, in person events, and hopefully future book deals and speaking gigs.

• TheShop.AI: This will be a newsletter and media entity all about AI. We will write weekly news stories, cover current events, and document what we are building. This will generate leads for our AI consultancy business. Chase runs this entire operations. We help are …

• Somatic Jules: This is my wife’s Substack. For the record, this is all her, and I don’t claim any credit for the ridiculous amount of success she is having. She uses her Substack to sell tickets to her events and will eventually build out a retreats business.

My Plan And The Order Of Operations

My priority right now is Quantum Leads. I am building something very special in the healthcare space. I love doing it, and I want to be known as the greatest healthcare marketer there is.

So as it pertains to Tim Stodz Media, I will continue writing my Monday newsletter and publishing The Patient Pipeline every Friday.

As far as the new publications go, it is all about partnerships.

Chase is my partner in TheShop.AI, so he will be spearheading all the AI content. In addition, Isaac is my head of media, and Ermy does a great job scheduling my content and managing the different platforms.

I need to rely on my team, and the rest will fall into place. My focus will be to keep doing what I am doing and let the rest fall into place.

Conclusion: I Can See It In My Mind

For five years, I’ve been toying with the idea of building out this media company as a way to generate leads for my agencies. Now that I have been going so hard on Substack, I can totally see the vision of how this will come together from a logistics and tech stack standpoint.

I am fully focused on what’s important. My six month plan is still to hit a specific revenue target for Quantum Leads. That is not changing.

Through partnerships, organization, team building, hiring, and manifestation, I am fully confident that Tim Stodz Media will become a Substack powerhouse. I’m going to completely dominate this platform and use Substack as my command center for all my content.

It’s gonna be fucking epic.

That sounds trite and trivial, but it is always shocking to me how many upstart entrepreneurs have their priorities mixed up. Most of you are totally focused on the wrong outcome.

In this week’s issue, I will tell you how to avoid the trap.

Warren Buffett Has No Social Media Following

My business hero is Warren Buffett.

Seth Godin taught me permission marketing and Brian Clark taught me the technical skills of content marketing. I am grateful to them.

But as far as shaping my philosophy in business, family, and life, I basically copied all of my ideas from Warren Buffett.

One of Buffett’s most impactful lessons was the importance of delighting your customers.

Sometimes I go and visit it just to remind myself of what’s really important.

Do not just satisfy your customers, delight them.

He uses the example of Jeff Bezos, and it is the perfect example because Bezos was the one entrepreneur who obsessed most over customer satisfaction and focusing all his attention on delighting the customer.

Bezos created a world where it was unreasonable to shop anywhere else except for Amazon, because Amazon created the most delightful experience.

• The $0 First Year: In the first year of Amazon, Jeff Bezos spent exactly $0 on advertising, relying entirely on a flawless customer experience to drive word of mouth. It worked so well that within 30 days, they had orders from all 50 states and 45 countries.

• The 2003 Ad Blackout: In 2003, Bezos abruptly canceled the entire television advertising budget for Amazon. He took those millions and reinvested them directly into the customer by funding free shipping and systematically lowering prices.

• The 30/70 Rule: Bezos operated on a principle that flipped traditional marketing on its head. He believed that while legacy companies spent 30 percent of their time building a service and 70 percent shouting about it, modern businesses need to invert that ratio.

We all know how this ended up. Amazon, for better or worse, recently surpassed Walmart in annual revenue to be the largest company in the world by revenue.

This is an obvious and classic example of what happens when you focus on the customer.

You Are Worrying About All The Wrong Things

The message has become blurred.

In 2026, we confuse marketing with business. Marketing is not business. Marketing is one aspect of business, and it is a very misunderstood aspect of business.

(For a fun experiment, I want you to leave a comment and tell me what marketing is. I bet you do not know the answer.)

You obsess over your follower count, your brand, your messaging, and how many views you have gotten. You think more about spreading your message than about delighting your customers.

That is a great way to get Instagram followers, but it is not a great way to make money.

Let me tell you an observation I have made over the last 15 years. I have met a lot of successful people in my career. There is a handful of men and women who I really admire from a business standpoint that I know personally. One thing I have observed about all of them is that they do not care one bit about how many LinkedIn followers they have. Most of them do not even know how to use LinkedIn. These are multimillionaires and in some cases billionaires. And they focus all their attention on what really matters, which is creating a product or service that delights customers.

It is hard, because the entire world is telling you that if you do not have a personal brand then you do not amount to anything.

Status is largely connected to followers, and that is sad. You must decide what you want.

If you want followers, then focus on attention. If you want money, then focus on delighting your customers.

I Have Hired A Customer Success Manager

Quantum Leads is starting to hit that pinnacle point.

I am getting new leads every day and the business is growing month over month.

When I was running Stodzy, one of the mistakes I made was that I was so focused on doing work. I always wanted to be working for my customers because I did not ever want to come across as if I was not a good partner.

My heart was in the right place, but my objective was a few degrees off.

This time around, I know that the results need to come first.

Everything is centered around generating the specific outcome that our customers are looking for.

It is not about the hours or even the effort, it is about the tangible results. So I am overinvesting in delighting our customers.

Starting today, I have hired a customer success manager. This person’s entire job is to always be scraping data, and auditing how well our work is generating the result that the customer is paying for.

This means …

• living in the CRM to see how many sales we have generated

• living in Call Tracking Metrics to see how many calls we have generated

• living in the dynamic tracking, to see what work has specifically generated the results

• weekly strategizing to optimize our work so we can do more of what is working and less of what is not working

• obsessing over customer delight

This person’s primary focus is the delight meter of our customers. (I just made that up lol)

What is best about this approach is that it will ultimately be the best form of marketing imaginable.

The more our customers tell people about how delighted they are with our services and lead generation products, the more our brand will grow and the closer I will get to my goal of being the most prolific healthcare marketing experts in the world.

Subsequently, my cash will grow and my ability to make investments into my personal holdings company will increase.

In Conclusion: Keeping Your Eye On The Prize

My north star is to have a personal holding company that generates $10M a year in passive revenue.

If I want to achieve my ultimate outcome, I am better off focusing my attention on delighting my customers than I am focusing my attention on growing my brand.

Ironically, by focusing on my customers it will lead to me growing a bigger personal brand anyway.

Please, do not fall for the trap.

Do not let these tech giants trick you into thinking you need them. You do not need a following.

Yes, a personal brand is a helpful tool, and I will be the first to tell you that my personal brand and my social media following has generates massive results for my business and my personal finances.

With that said, it is third or fourth on the list in terms of importance for generating revenue and growing a profitable business.

Focus on the customer.

Focus on delighting them.

The rest will fall into place.

I’m not quite sure how to say this, but almost all healthcare professionals (doctors and clinicians especially) are terrible marketers.

I think it has something to do with the two different sides of the brain. Anyway …

In today’s issue I will explain the 3 biggest mistakes you’re making in your marketing, and give you simple solutions to fix them.

If you fix these three giant holes in your marketing, I’m certain you will generate more leads, bring in more patients, and increase your revenues.

Let’s dive in.

Mistake 1: Not Tracking Phone Calls

Let me set the scene.

I receive a phone call from a therapist in Madison, Wisconsin. We will call her Beth.

Beth works specifically with high achievers who feel burnt out and lonely. She has a lot of success with her practice and wants to open a second location. She knows she needs to invest in digital marketing and lead generation, so she calls me.

Here is how the conversation usually goes.

Me: Hi Beth. How can I help you?

Beth: I want to get more phone calls and inbound leads.

Me: Okay, great. How are you getting your clients now?

Beth: Well, I get some referrals, I think some people find me online, I am listed on Psychology Today, and I post on social media, which I think helps.

Me: Okay. Do you know how many calls you get from all those sources? Or which source generates the most calls?

Beth: No.

Me: 😔

Tracking your calls is the easiest way to understand your marketing. Call tracking can be difficult to set up, but once it is running, it gives you a crystal clear picture of where your marketing dollars are most effective.

With call tracking, you will know:

• How many SEO calls you get

• How many social media calls you get

• How many direct calls you get

• How many people called the phone number on your business card or brochure (I call these dinner table leads)

Once you know your call data, you will know the best place to spend your marketing dollars.

In most cases, you are wasting money because you have no idea which marketing channels generate revenue and which ones are a waste of time. So you’re spending money on marketing channels that aren’t working and not enough on the channels that are.

Mistake #2: No CRM

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management.

Simply put, a CRM is a tool to track leads, create follow up sequences, and build a process to connect with leads who did not close.

I have noticed a strange dynamic where many healthcare practitioners feel it is unethical to follow up and work a lead with the intention of closing the deal.

Just because you are in healthcare does not mean you should avoid actively generating leads, creating automations for email and SMS, booking follow up appointments, and tracking your data to increase your conversion rate. You need to be selling your prospects on why they should work with you.

A CRM is a game changer. If you build out the front end of your sales process, the rest becomes autopilot.

Many people make the mistake of investing in a massive CRM like Salesforce or HubSpot. That is appropriate for larger healthcare facilities like an inpatient treatment center. However, for local clinics, it is perfectly valid to use a simpler system like Close CRM or Go High Level.

The data is gold.

Mistake 3: No Sales Process

This piggybacks off having no CRM. A CRM will help you create a sales system, but a sales process will help you turn phone calls into sales.

Most healthcare clinics send phone calls straight to the front desk. I am not saying there is anything wrong with having a receptionist answer calls, but at the very least, they should be trained on the difference between managing an admin call and bringing people down a sales script with the intent of closing a new patient.

Sales is an emotional process. Just because you are selling healthcare services, rather than something transactional like a car, does not mean you should ignore a sales script or skip training your front desk workers in sales. You need to recognize how to bring prospects down the emotional path of a sale.

The best case scenario is to set up your call routing to send admin calls to the front desk and sales calls to a sales rep. See Mistake 1 and Mistake 2 above.

Sales are the lifeblood of your clinic. If you cannot sell, you cannot serve.

You are in business to help people and have dedicated your life to reducing suffering. If you cannot sell, you have no way to share your gift and practice your craft.

So please, learn sales.

In Conclusion

I promise, if you:

• Set up call tracking

• Use a CRM (and actually use it)

• Establish a legitimate sales process

Your business will grow. It is a statistical certainty.

The Details Of The Copyblogger Sale

To be clear, I sold 70% of the company. I retain 30% ownership and will have a small but active role going forward.

I sold the majority interest to my friend Darrell Vesterfelt. Darrell is the man. He’s a great friend and a great entrepreneur. Most importantly, he’s obsessed with customer happiness. Under his leadership, I know Copyblogger will be better than ever and serve more people than ever.

So let me give you the details. I’m sure you’re dying to know the sale price. I won’t share the specifics of the deal, but between the growth over the last 5 years, my equity in Digital Commerce, the exit sale, and sponsorship revenue, I doubled my money plus some.
