I don’t know why you wouldn’t.
There is so much room and so much opportunity online. You don’t need to make huge commitments. You don’t need to quit your day job. You don’t have to dive in head first to make decent income doing something that you enjoy.
You need to get started. There is great work to do and money to be made. What’s holding you back?
One of the questions I get asked the most is “but what should I do?”
Good question. Everyone wants to have a definitive plan or an outline of what a side business could look like, but the trick is to start.
You get your first side job, you will talk to some people, they will introduce you to more people. Maybe eventually you can build your own business website and build a small email list. You will grow. Slowly but surely.
How do I know? Because what you are reading right now is my side hustle.
Each day, I spend about 10 hours working on my companies and investments. Each day I (usually) find time to work out, eat dinner with Juliana, walk the dog, read, watch an episode of Chopped and write my daily blog post.
There is plenty of time in the day, so I don’t want to hear about how there isn’t enough time. There is always time. It’s just a matter of priorities. You want to sleep or relax more than you want to succeed.
Which is fine. For you.

Some Ideas for Side Hustles
So how do you do it? What are some side hustles that you can start right now?
Create an Online Store – This is an easy one. Anyone can build an online store on Etsy. If you are really willing to make a commitment, you can build a store on Shopify.
Creating your own store can also be a lot of fun. One of the most fun businesses I ever did was when me and one of my best friends started a tee shirt company. It was definitely a side hustle but at one point we were doing $600 a day in sales. It was a great time. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing which is just proof that if we could do it, than you definitely can.
Go to garage sales and find stuff for cheap and sell it online. Create a tee shirt company around something that you love. Sell gaming equipment. Do something that you enjoy and your passion will help you succeed.
Start a Writing Company – There is always a demand for writers. The demand gets bigger and bigger every day. Especially if you’re good.
One of my favorite side hustle success stories is a company called Buzzy Blogs. You should check them out. Buzzy Blogs started as a side project and now it is facilitating the careers of 5 women. A great business. A great example of what happens when you start!
Start a Paid Email Newsletter – A lot of people think that newsletters are out dated but in reality, they are more relevant than ever.
In fact, The Marketing Academy is built around email.
There are great subscription platforms such as substack which will help you set up your paid newsletter right now. It already comes connected with Stripe so you can easily bill your subscribers without going through the hassle of setting up a merchant.
Just imagine, if you can get 100 subscribers and they each pay $5 a month, that’s $500 a month! The best part is, you love writing your newsletter so you will be getting paid extra money to do something that you really love.
What could be better?
I feel like I am going to be saying this over and over again for the rest of my life.
There is too much content out there about having the perfect plan and online courses about the 10 steps to becoming a millionaire. It doesn’t work like that. It’s a learning process. The magic is in the journey.
So the sooner you start, the sooner you fail. The sooner you fail, the sooner you figure out what doesn’t work which means the quicker you start to figure out what does work.
With experience you will build confidence and with confidence you will build a successful business.
What starts today as an idea or a small side hustle could turn into a 6 or even a 7 figure company 3-5 years from now. What makes me sad is knowing that 5 years from now, most of you will look back and think “I wonder what would have happened if I had started then?”
Just give it a shot.
P.S. – The Marketing Academy is now switched over to a self hosted platform. This means that all of the lessons, archives, subscription forms and future classes can be viewed directly on the site.
No more different platforms for different courses. It’s great.
