Most people are intimidated by the seemingly daunting task of building a website, getting sales, fulfilling orders, SEO, social media, profit and loss sheets, the list goes on.
I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that complicated. Building a successful online business is just like anything else. It takes a willingness to learn, some dedication, lots of common sense and a drive and hunger to succeed.
Through my experience, I have built a marketing program that is effective, efficient and profitable.

When I first got started building my online business, I was lucky enough to come across some amazing websites that taught me how to use content to grow my audience and sell products or services. I would come home from work and stay up all night reading books, articles and practicing my skills.
The website I created at the time was a personal blog. I originally was trying to create a “lifestyle” blog that I could sell advertising and affiliate products through.
Over the years I discovered that the real money is in positioning yourself as an expert in a industry and creating a business around your skill set by building an audience of subscribers and followers.
If you have a loyal audience, you can pick and chose what products or services you want to monetize your business with. If you have a product and no audience than you will essentially need to become a “salesman” and convince people to buy your product.
My “audience first” approach has been the catalyst behind all three of my companies. Each and every one of them continues to drive revenue and continues to put money in my pocket, even while I sleep.
This isn’t just a pipe dream, I am proof that this works and an example that building a successful online business is possibly a realistic.
So… what exactly can you expect when hiring me?
Step 1 – Build a Clean and “Content First” Driven Website
You may notice that my website is not very fancy. I don’t believe in flashy design or complicated layouts. I believe in clarity of message. My web design services are very straight forward.
Granted, design is important and we must not under estimate the power of color schemes, call to action, images and story telling. But the point I am making is that it is your content and your message that is truly going to tell the story of who you are as a business owner and why someone should buy from you.
So before we even get started on marketing, I will build out your website. Most likely, I will chose a theme using the Genesis Framework and I will build you a clean efficient website with a real clarity of message.
We will work together to get images on the site, to design the site layout and create a website that is both simple and beautiful.
Step 2 – Build Your Marketing Infrastructure
When I was growing up, I was a carpenter. My boss would always tell me “use the right tool for the job.” That brilliant piece of advice is just as true in building an online business as it is in building a house.
We need to build your tool kit. This includes…
- implementing email collection tools
- setting you up with an email service
- setting up your Google analytics
- properly setting up your Google webmaster tools
- possibly building your local business page
- creating social media accounts
You get the picture.
There is a lot to understand and many times people get stuck at this step simply out of frustration. Don’t worry about it. I will do all this for you and I will present it to you in an easy to access sheet that keeps track of all your login credentials.
Don’t stress about it. You need to save that energy for the work ahead.
Step 3 – Build a Content Strategy
This is where the real work on your part starts.
As I said, I take an “audience first” approach. If we can build a subscriber and follower base then it will be much easier for you to sell your products and services to those who already trust you.
The best way to build an audience is to create valuable content that can help them in their lives. Remember, you don’t want to over complicate this step. There are only 4 types of content.
- The written word
- Audio format
- Video format
We can discuss which medium of content you will be most comfortable with. I prefer the written word, although I do enjoy making videos as well. Maybe you feel most comfortable talking into a microphone or doing podcast interviews.
There are lots of ways to create content, but together, we will build a strategy and a plan that will map out how to build an audience and will create value in people’s lives.
Step 4 – Map Out Your Search Engine Optimization and Execute On It
Most people hear the term search engine optimization and they think it is some secret science that only techies and computer hackers know.
That is not the case. SEO is based on very straight forward principles that can be achieved through networking, writing and common sense.
The trick to SEO is knowing what you are targeting before you do it. This is where I come in. I will send you an entire keyword report. I will map out which keywords are worth targeting, which ones may be easy and which ones may have more competition.
Another aspect of SEO is writing. We need to get words on a page for the search engines to understand what that page is about. If you are not a good writer, content writing and sales copy is also a separate service I provide.
Also, you will receive a monthly keyword rankings report from me. Every month we will look at the results of our search engine optimization, we will tweak our campaign and we will continue to improve.
Take it from me, if we can truly own and gobble up all the traffic from even a small number of search terms, it can completely change your business and your life.
Step 5 – Optimize, Teach and Improve
My goal is to build your skills so that you are eventually completely self sufficient. You shouldn’t be dependent on me and my services. I will teach you the ropes so that you can learn to do this on your own.
My work is very labor intensive in the beginning, but by month 6 you should really be on your own. There is no reason why you wont be able to become the master of your own business and marketing.
Once we truly establish and build your brand, you can start delegating roles and responsibilities so that you can continue to work on the business and not in the business.
The way to do that is to constantly measure and test what is being produced. We must always be asking ourselves a few questions…
- Where are sales coming from?
- What can do improve?
- What is not working that we can get rid of?
- Where can we save money?
- Where can we earn more money?
After a few months of work and constant evolution, you should truly be on your way to running a profitable, successful and purposeful business.
The best part is, you can now take your business anywhere. All you need is a lap top, a cell phone, some deal discipline and you can make money while you have the free time to enjoy your life.

This is not a get rich quick system. I am not selling you a dream. I am providing you with the services, the knowledge, the technology, and the know-how to get you started.
You will need to work. Nothing in life is free.
